The traditional barbershop complete with elegant style, and notoriety charm first came to light back in 1805 when esteemed gentlemen needed a good spruce up and a good dose of gentlemanly conversation. The era of the barbershop is entrenched with the unmistakable essence of fine craftsmanship, innovation, and handcrafted expertise.

Truefitt & Hill wanted to encapsulate this era while respecting the historic dwelling located in Block Arcade on Collins Street. Combining old-world craftsmanship with modern aspects and high-end design. Solid hardwood and hardwood moulding are brought to life in the modern-day with contrasting and complimenting 2pac high-end veneer. Pops of blue around the establishment reflects the brand's heritage while the clever integration of LED lighting accentuates the fine woodwork and features around the space.

Traditional charm was important to portray in the design process. Allowing customers to be transformed back into a generation of gentlemen and glamour. Showcasing products while remaining a statement unto itself. The art of bespoke joinery to complement products, without overstatement is an important aspect of retail fit-outs. The design needed to showcase the stunning grooming products on offer and provide a stunning backdrop to enhance the overall feel of the space, without over-representation.

Lighting was vital in this zone. Dark colours needed to pop and border the specialised products of the store. Unlike the 1800s lighting options are plenty in 2022, the cabinets are well lit and allow the custom cabinetry to become a perfect frame to illuminate and dazzle the eye. Providing the ultimate shopping experience while staying true to the heritage and time-honoured aspects of the brand.

The large glass display cabinet allows for the focal point to fall directly onto the products while giving an element of space around the shop. A step back in time, with modern elements that will surely make any customer gain a touch of old-school grace and charm while shopping for opulent grooming gifts and products.
