Taking inspiration from the popular Thai floating markets, this refreshed Melbourne restaurant merges well-known Thai-inspired materials with modern design elements alongside a splash of hand craftsmanship. Bringing those important earthy tones and natural materials to evoke a feeling of warmth and homely comfort that is synonymous with traditional Thai food. 

The upstairs bar, with handcrafted rattan accents and mellow, earthy colours becomes a sculptural feature while remaining casual and unobtrusive. It’s light, warm, and inviting with Rimex planter boxes installed to bring lush greenery indoors.  

Adding simple design concepts allow the space to pop. The bagged wall provides handcrafted and specialised details and adds a component of texture to the contrasting smooth surfaces of the warm-toned furniture. Handcrafted rattan panelling  - customed inhouse, gives that homestyle Thai feel while custom-built seating takes full advantage of the space while adding the vital component of comfort.   

The open style take-away kitchen provides the busyness and delightful smells of the kitchen to envelope the zone, while also keeping with the openness of the area. Clever placement of lighting illuminates the restaurant, plus by taking advantage of the impressive natural light they both offer a dazzling reflective quality from the glass feature tiles and polished flooring.   

A cleverly secluded eating booth is stored away for a more intimate dining experience. Allowing the area to function as a romantic escape or a busy Thai eating venture. Warm timbers, textural tones and greenery add to the elements of the tropics.
