For the newest addition to the Nando’s family, Nando’s Northland wanted an aesthetic that would blend with its distinctive Afro-Portuguese style and reflect the ambiance this famous restaurant was known for. In addition, the well-known eatery needed elements of warmth and comfort with tailored features throughout to create the perfect place for patrons to enjoy a casual dining experience.

The custom-built curved ceiling is undoubtedly an excellent focal point and gives the entire space a beautiful element of height. Creating the illusion of more space is vital in a busy environment to allow customers to enjoy their meals in a welcoming and open atmosphere. This was achieved by implementing a curved wall-to-ceiling edge, while the hand-cut zig-zag timber dowel with featured lighting strips illuminates this stunning feature.

The concept of the overall design was important. A layered, dynamic texture alongside contrasting features, with earthy and colourful tones, creates a welcoming and refreshing space. This was enhanced by a stunning colour pallet plus a combination of gloss and porcelain tiles, recycled timber, custom patterned upholstery, and leather.

Tailored bespoke joinery was a significant design component for the restaurant. This project needed careful attention to detail and an expert eye to deliver the desired outcome, from custom curved ceilings and focal lighting points to the seating options and dessert bar area.

Banquette seating was installed with rounded corners to illustrate the curvature of the design. Finished in leather with fabric details, the seating underscores the texture of this space. Timber dowel detailing with a black powder-coated aluminum frame alongside an LED strip illuminates this design element perfectly.

Lighting was also an important aspect of this project, as the space required a combination of functional lighting that was also warm and inviting yet exemplified the theme of the restaurant. Beaded Necklace lampshades combined with Urchin wall sconce lights create lovely, shadowed patterns in the space while cleverly highlighting the focal ceiling - a pure delight for the diner's senses.

The result has created the perfect eatery for a casual dinner or a quick bite to eat during the day, that showcases the warmth and Afro-Portuguese feel that represents the famous Nando’s brand.
