When fun decant dining and exquisite, original style comes to mind, this is the amazing result. This 130-year-old heritage-listed converted townhouse certainly oozes character, with a cobblestone entrance and a feeling of tradition and history. The new laneway café not only needed to be mindful and celebrate this history, but it also needed to meet the brief – an instant Instagram hit!  

The results were nothing short of spectacular. The existing brickwork, bluestone, and timber columns were revealed to provide a surprising contrast to the modern and seamless stainless steel, glass, and black datum floors. Combined, the contrasting surfaces provide the perfect backdrop for a striking lighting display, that colourfully spills over into the cobblestone lane.  

The stunning entrance is encapsulated as a kaleidoscope - designed using dichroic film and lights wrapped with stainless steel casing. Rightfully taking centre stage of the space is the beautiful bar area. With seamless stainless steel panelling and a cantilevered dichroic glass ledge, it is most certainly an adoring focal point in the space. This also creates a feeling of abundant room throughout the café.  

The original brick wall provides the perfect contrast to the bold and exciting new finishes. Carefully positioned overhead lighting and neon signs theatrically play on the clean and modern surfaces and create a kaleidoscope of colour that changes as you move within the space. It’s this use of materials in conjunction with lights and colour that places this fit-out on a spectacular pedestal.  

Combining lighting with reflective surfaces adds a modern and fun edge while hints of exposed original brickwork are all creatively nestled inside a historic building. Proving that modern and old age charm can create an eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing zone, that diners simply adore.  

The exposed brick and concrete add an element of warmth to the stark modern features of stainless steel and glass. Working with all elements to create a chic environment that is also inviting and comfortable.  

The colourful lighting throws an array of tones around the wraparound bar offering a dazzling sight for the eyes, as you indulge in an array of purely spectacular food delights on offer. A spectacle for the eyes and certainly a crowd pleaser when choosing fun dining all contained in a cobbled laneway seeped with history.
